Atrocious Customer Service.

On Dec. 18, 2007, Dale went into Longs Drug Store in Marina. I went to Save Mart first then met Dale by the pharmacy in Longs. At the checkout a clerk named William P. scared the pants off of me.

The clerk did not greet me. He didn’t say a word. After staring at me for @ 10-20 seconds, I stared back for @ 5 seconds

Customer: Is there a problem?

Clerk: What’s your problem?

After a few more seconds………..the clerk glared at me with anger and rage in his eyes. I have never been so terrified making a purchase.

Customer: Did I do something to offend you. All I want is to buy my stuff.

Clerk: mumble….mumble……

Customer: I apologize if I offended you.

Clerk: mumble….mumble……

William’s behavior was appalling; it is inexcusable for any customer to feel intimated by a store clerk.

Helen Inada

Helen is a nice person. She has been dealing with MS and an overall deteriorate in health. She is a warrior, at times she did not appear to be in good health but she manages to recover.

There appears to be a schism between the Inadas (donde Estaban) and a ubiquitous animosity, though subtle. End result is Helen is isolated and has limited interaction with anyone but Barney, Dale and me.

Barney loves acting silly. Kelly enjoys laughing with Barney. Sometimes we spend all evening on the couch watching TV, eating, laughing and some nights sleeping there.

Its pretty cathartic about acting like a 10 year old. Barney is infamous for throwing his old fish bones in Kelly's food.

Bike ride to Asilomar

On Saturday I rode my bicycle to Asilomar. It was @15 miles from Marina to Asilomar. Round trip 30 miles.

Beautiful, easy ride. If Dale found out I would be dead.

I had the wind behind me from Marina to Seaside, Monterey and PG got a little windy and crowed on the path but as I past Lover's Point the crowd thinned out.

I live in Marina but know very little of Asilomar and Pebble Beach. Discovered a path that appeared to lead to Pebble Beach.

Another 9/11...........does anyone care?

Another 9/11 and the apathy of this country is shocking. I don't think we should dwell of this horrific event, but this is the day we should acknowledge it.

At the risk of sounding jingoistic, the USA is the best country. Warts and all!

Dale commutes to San Jose twice a week

Dale goes to San Jose State twice a week. Dale does not get enough sleep. Some nights Dale sleeps at 1-2:30am and gets up at 6:00am. I don’t know how someone can function that well with such little sleep.

I couldn’t.

When I commuted to San Jose from Marina I made it a point to get to sleep by 11:00 so I could get up by 5:00am. If I got less sleep I was less productive, less focused and made more mistakes.

Maybe Dale is right….Japanese are superior, not that Dale is xenophobic maybe Dale was just born with a plethora of hubris.

Barney is a diehard Oakland fan. He and his "homies" get down and go ape-shit watching the Oak-Town bad boys.

Shark attack in Marina

On Tuesday Aug. 28, 2007, a surfer was attacked by a shark possibly 20ft.

Most of the Bay Area TV reporters were at Marina beach, including Robert Honda, Katrina Rusk and KGO radio.

Another beautiful day at Lover's Point in Pacific Grove. Barney has always lived by the coast: Hawaii, Japan and Marina.

Sunday was beautiful. Bike ride to through Fort Ord pass the new shopping center which includes a Target and REI.

Melanie and the kids were over, she is still taking about the Lone Cypress.

Cycling in Marina can be precarious. There are bike lanes but many drivers are not cognizant of cyclists.
