Bike ride to Seaside

Helen passed away on Dec. 20, 2007.

She was at home, in her wheelchair when she lost all control of her bowls. We suspect that is when she expired. Dale was reluctant to accept it; he kept insisting that her breathing was shallow.

It was clear to me that she gone or she was real close to letting go. I called 911 @ 1:30am and was directed to get her on the floor and perform CPR. I was instructed to keep pushing her chest for 400 cycles or until paramedics arrived.

Dale was in the bathroom changing contacts when the paramedics started to knock on the door. I had the phone on my ear and was yelling at Dale to open the door while still administering CPR on Helen.

I could hear knocking on the front door and Dale was not answering it. Holy Cow.....I had the phone in my ear, pressing on Helen and yelling at Dale.

Helen was declared dead @ 2:30am Thursday.

It was sad

Longs Drug in Marina Horrible Customer Service

Atrocious Customer Service.

On Dec. 18, 2007, Dale went into Longs Drug Store in Marina. I went to Save Mart first then met Dale by the pharmacy in Longs. At the checkout a clerk named William P. scared the pants off of me.

The clerk did not greet me. He didn’t say a word. After staring at me for @ 10-20 seconds, I stared back for @ 5 seconds

Customer: Is there a problem?

Clerk: What’s your problem?

After a few more seconds………..the clerk glared at me with anger and rage in his eyes. I have never been so terrified making a purchase.

Customer: Did I do something to offend you. All I want is to buy my stuff.

Clerk: mumble….mumble……

Customer: I apologize if I offended you.

Clerk: mumble….mumble……

William’s behavior was appalling; it is inexcusable for any customer to feel intimated by a store clerk.

Helen Inada

Helen is a nice person. She has been dealing with MS and an overall deteriorate in health. She is a warrior, at times she did not appear to be in good health but she manages to recover.

There appears to be a schism between the Inadas (donde Estaban) and a ubiquitous animosity, though subtle. End result is Helen is isolated and has limited interaction with anyone but Barney, Dale and me.

Fun with Barney

Barney loves acting silly. Kelly enjoys laughing with Barney. Sometimes we spend all evening on the couch watching TV, eating, laughing and some nights sleeping there.

Its pretty cathartic about acting like a 10 year old. Barney is infamous for throwing his old fish bones in Kelly's food.

Bike ride to Asilomar

On Saturday I rode my bicycle to Asilomar. It was @15 miles from Marina to Asilomar. Round trip 30 miles.

Beautiful, easy ride. If Dale found out I would be dead.

I had the wind behind me from Marina to Seaside, Monterey and PG got a little windy and crowed on the path but as I past Lover's Point the crowd thinned out.

I live in Marina but know very little of Asilomar and Pebble Beach. Discovered a path that appeared to lead to Pebble Beach.

Another 9/11...........does anyone care?

Another 9/11 and the apathy of this country is shocking. I don't think we should dwell of this horrific event, but this is the day we should acknowledge it.

At the risk of sounding jingoistic, the USA is the best country. Warts and all!
